Twipes co-founder and inventor Elle McIntosh was welcomed by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the U.K.-E.U. Summit at 10 Downing St. on Monday, 19th May 2025, where she attended a reception and networked with a number of the U.K.’s most prominent politicians, businesspeople, and scientists.
The summit was the first post-Brexit leader-level summit, with the intent of strengthening alliances between the U.K. and E.U., specifically in security and trade.
“Not all of this will be achieved,” the U.K. in a Changing Europe office said ahead of the summit. “However, the meeting will mark a significant first step towards building on existing agreements and a test of whether the two sides are committed to matching increasingly warm words with actions.“
McIntosh was invited due to her success in biotechnology and her contributions to the country in her field.
“It’s always nice to be welcomed back to number 10 for my achievements,” McIntosh said. “During this turbulent time, it’s important that we take the steps to come together and do the right thing, for everyone.”
